Who we are
The Mr Tea tea houses are run by three associated companies, one for each shop. In this notice, “Mr Tea”, “we” and “us” means whichever of them runs the shop you are dealing with — each is the “data controller” for its own shop:
- MR TEA LTD (Leeds) — company no. 12857684, registered in England & Wales. Registered office: 43 Northern Avenue, Sheffield, S2 2JA.
- DANLINN LTD (Bradford) — company no. 15576996, registered in England & Wales. Registered office: 25 Well Close Rise, Leeds, LS7 1HT.
- LONGSKY LTD (York) — company no. 16128708, registered in England & Wales. Registered office: Flat 10, 21 Beecroft Street, Leeds, LS5 3FE.
For anything to do with your privacy, email mrtealeeds2019@gmail.com and we will pass it to the right company.
The short version
This website has no accounts, no online ordering and no contact forms, so we don’t collect personal information through it automatically. We only hold personal data when you choose to give it to us — for example, when you phone or email a shop to ask a question, book a table or enquire about an event. We don’t sell your data, and we never share it for marketing by others.
The information we collect
We may hold personal information in these situations:
- When you contact us. If you phone, email or message us on social media, we receive your name, the contact details you use, and whatever you choose to tell us (for example a table booking, an event enquiry or feedback).
- When you visit our shops. Our premises may use CCTV for the safety and security of customers and staff, with signage on site.
- Technical information. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested) to keep the site secure and running.
How and why we use it
- To answer your questions and respond to your messages.
- To take and manage table bookings and event enquiries.
- To keep our website and premises secure and working properly.
- To meet our legal and accounting obligations.
Our lawful bases for this are your consent (when you choose to contact us), our legitimate interests in running and securing the business, taking steps you ask for before or during a booking, and where needed compliance with the law. We do not use your information to make automated decisions about you.
Ordering and delivery
We don’t take payments or online orders on this website. If you order through a delivery partner such as Uber Eats or Fantuan, your order and payment are handled by that platform under their own privacy policy, and they are responsible for the data you give them. We only receive the details needed to prepare and hand over your order.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We share it only where we need to:
- Trusted service providers who help us operate — for example our website hosting provider — who may only use it on our instructions.
- Delivery platforms and social media providers, where you choose to use them (they act as their own data controllers).
- Authorities or advisers where we are required to by law, or to protect our rights.
Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies it needs to work, and currently no analytics or advertising cookies. You can read the detail in our Cookie Policy.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purpose we collected it, or to meet legal, tax and accounting requirements, and then delete it. Casual enquiry messages are kept only as long as they are useful.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask us to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, or limit or object to how we use it, and to withdraw any consent you’ve given. To do any of these, email mrtealeeds2019@gmail.com. We’ll respond within one month.
Complaints
We’d like the chance to put things right, so please come to us first. You also have the right to complain to the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office, at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “last updated” date at the top of this page.
